The first day was a real struggle for me. I hadn't shot in so long I had trouble seeing, and just felt rusty. I still got a couple of reasonable shots though.

We're back. We were in New Brunswick for the week at a Freeman Patterson/Andre Gallant/Terry Adair workshop. It was a really good trip, and I got a lot out of the workshop. I'll post some photos over the next few days.

Still being a slacker...

We're on vacation next week, but I hope to come back with some good pics.

Cheesecake alert!

There's a couple of fox dens in the park we were at, and this time of year the kits are out exploring. This guy came down the trail, saw us, stopped and looked at us, and then went off into the brush.

A Kinglet. There were about 5 zillion of them at the point; hopping around the trees, and sometimes hovering in the air, to catch bugs. They are really neat birds. Most of the birdwatchers at the point didn't pay them much attention since they are so common, but I could watch them all day.

I didn't get any pictures of the pelican. It was really far away, and I could just tell what it was through the binoculars. It was still neat to see though.

We saw a lot of birds at Tawas this year, more than I think I've seen before. Of course part of that is probably because I am more knowledgeable than I have been in the past. I know more about the birds i am seeing, and more about where to find them.

There was even a pelican, which is a pretty rare occurrence on Lake Huron. Someone told me there was a pelican, and where to see it, and I just looked at them in disbelief. There it was though, out on a sandbar in the lake.

Okay, I have been a total slacker photographically for several weeks. This past weekend, I had not excuses though. It was our annual trip to Tawas for the spring migration. I took a ton of photos, and like it or not there will be a lot of bird photos here over the next few days.

This is a female ruby throated hummingbird. The female does not have the ruby throat that the male does, but they do have the same iridescent feathers.
